In Loving Memory of
James David Galaway
of Portland, Oregon
12/12/1961 – 09/29/2026

Jim was born to Vern and Alberta Galaway on December 12th, 1961, and lived most of his life in Cedar Mill. He attended Sunset Valley grade school, Meadow Park middle school, and Sunset High School.
Jim enjoyed playing sports, in particular baseball and golf. Always giving his all, he famously crashed into a wall trying to catch a fly ball when playing softball in a Tualatin Hills Park and Recreation district league. He also won the club championship one year while a member at Rock Creek Country Club.
In 1999, Jim and Karen Hagopian enjoyed a destination wedding on the beautiful island of Nassau, Bahamas. During their time together, Jim and Karen enjoyed traveling, attending concerts, and especially the annual Portland Blues Festival.
Jim had a variety of careers, from working in an auto body shop and various manufacturing companies, including both the Hillsboro and Gresham Fujitsu sites. He enjoyed attending many of the reunions that they held, reuniting with old friends.
Jim suffered gastrointestinal issues most of his adult life, which ultimately lead to his passing on September 29th, 2026 at the young age of 64. Jim always had a positive outlook on life, determined to get the most out of each day. He leaves behind his loving wife Karen, siblings Bill, Kathy and John, and many nieces and nephews.
His family will be hosting a celebration of Jim’s life in a place that was very special to him – North Plains Veteran’s Memorial Park, 31230 NW Highland Ct, North Plains, OR 97133. Please join us at 1:00pm on Sunday, October 25th to share stories of your time with Jim.
