Robin Alane Speer

Robin Alane Speer, 62 Years, of Goldendale, WA
10/21/1956 – 03/05/2019

After a long battle with cancer, Robin Speer, age 62, passed away at her home in Goldendale, Washington on March 5, 2019.

Robin was the fourth child born to William Lyle Putney and Rosemary Jane Ellen Putney (nee Rookaird). She entered the Putney family at Vallejo General Hospital in Vallejo, California on October 21, 1956. Raised in Rancho del Mar, the first subdivision in what was once rural American Canyon, California, Robin enjoyed making mazes in the wheat fields, flying kites on Cookie Hill, and playing kick-the-can with siblings and neighbor children. As an adult, she often reflected upon the happy events of her childhood. Gathering with family and neighbors to watch fireworks on July 4th at the park adjacent to Donaldson Way Elementary School was always one of her favorite annual events.
Although Robin held a variety of jobs throughout her life, her gifts and passion lay in fashion and costume design, for which she won a number of awards. She was also a talented artist, actress, and singer. Her ability to sing and act was first recognized when she landed the lead role in Camelot in her senior year at Vintage High School in Napa, California. She also loved creating beautiful spaces with her knowledge of plants, creating tonics and concoctions for healing others’ wounds, and making aromatic gifts to lift their spirits.

No services will be held. We would like to thank those friends who nurtured and supported Robin through her long, agonizing illness. Special thanks to the folks at the Celilo Cancer Center for generously giving Robin a home during treatment when she had nowhere else to go.
