Lopes, Nesbia Greta

June 8, 1938 – February 19, 2023

Nesbia Greta Lopes passed away peacefully and surrounded by her family at St. Francis Hospital in Federal Way, WA on Sunday February 19th. Nesbia was born in Topeka Kansas on June 8th, 1938, to Bettye Sudduth-Guillory and John Guillory. She is survived by her three children: Gina, Rhonda, and Ronald (Tony) Lopes Jr. Daughters’-in-law, Joan Rosario (wife of Rhonda) and Kathy Lopes (wife of Tony). Five grandchildren: Dionna Sims, DeShaun Sims, Daniel (Shea) McGarrigle (wife of Myndi), Chelsea McGarrigle and Peyton Lopes. There are five great grandchildren: Rylee, Madelynn, and Jozy McGarrigle (daughters of Daniel and Myndi), Charleigh (daughter of Chelsea) and Londyn-Marie Sims (daughter of DeShaun). Siblings: John Basil and Paquita Guillory. Nieces and nephews: Angela, Tony, Deryck, Leslie, Mark, Basil and Zarr.

Nesbia left Topeka in 1954 and moved to Springfield, MA where she later met and married Ronald (Ronnie) Lopes Sr., a Police Officer in the US Air Force. Nesbia worked as an operator for Kings department store and Milton Bradley Toy Company. In 1969 Nesbia moved to Spokane, WA where she started in her banking career as a teller and transferred to Seattle, WA in 1975. Nesbia was promoted through Customer Service, Payroll, Manager’s Assistant to Branch Manager. Eventually at the age of 77 she retired as Office Manager for BP Oil.

Besides family, Nesbia enjoyed bingo and was a big fan of the Seahawks.
