Edmund G Sheleny Obituary

Edmund Glen Sheleny, 88, of Vancouver, WA, beloved husband of Betty (Langdale) Sheleny, passed away on September 6, 2018. Ed was born April 30, 1930, in North Dakota to the late Frank and Margaret (Gereszek) Sheleny. He was the tenth of twelve children. He enjoyed a childhood of growing up on a farm with his large family.

Ed joined the U.S. Army and served in the Korean War in 1948 and 1949. He was a Radio Operator and was awarded a medal during his service.

Ed and Betty owned the Rose Lodge Store in Rose Lodge, Oregon in the mid-seventies to early eighties. Ed was also a volunteer fireman in Rose Lodge during that same time. His interests included baseball, woodworking, roller skating, and classic country music.

His survivors include his wife Betty of 62 years, son Casey Sheleny, daughter Fawn (Russell) Solis, grandchildren; Will (Eric Bendix) Solis, Brandie (Robert) DiFalco, Katie (Brandon) Wagner, Julie (Jerry Nichols) Sheleny, and great-grandchildren; Kelsey Hunter, Brandon Wagner, Travis Wagner, Lily Sheleny, Zoey Nichols, Mixy Nichols.

Ed was a tremendous husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather – everyone who knew him loved him.

A service will be held at Willamette National Cemetery on September 13th at noon. A reception will follow.
