Portrait of Devon Boyd Lovsey McGinley

Devon passed away peacefully with his family by his side at Valley Medical Center in Renton, Washington. He was 46 years old.

Born in Burien, Washington, Devon was a true son of the Pacific Northwest. He loved everything about it—the evergreens, the misty mornings, and the rhythm of the rain. Devon carried that love with him to Alaska, where he worked for several years and found joy, adventure, and love in many forms: the soaring eagles, the rushing rivers, the majestic mountains, and especially the unforgettable times at Fish Camp.

In Alaska, he created many beautiful memories, including meeting the only woman he truly loved, Lydia Henry. Together, they brought the most beautiful gift of all into the world: their daughter, Sophia Lynn McGinley—his pride and joy.

Devon is survived by his beloved daughter, Sophia; his devoted mother, Kimberly Dea Smith, and stepfather Douglas Charles Smith; his sister, Tiffany Lynn McGinley Leveque; his grandmother, Caroline Lovsey; his aunt, Denice Bond; his birth father, Johnny Boyd Lovsey; and many cherished family members and friends.

He is preceded in death by his stepfather, Brian Robert McGinley; his sister, Kodie LaDonna Lovsey; his brothers, Dylan Robert McGinley and Shawn Struss; and his cousin, Kelsey LaDonna Newton.

Devon’s life was filled with both deep hardship and profound love. He had a heart as big as his laugh, and his gift for humor could brighten even the darkest day. He never missed a birthday, always remembering those he held dear. His bond with his mother was unwavering—constant and full of love. His last words to her were, “Momma, I love you.”

In his final moments, it was the sound of Sophia’s voice that carried him peacefully home.

May Devon’s soul find solace and tranquility as he journeys to the eternal realm. May he be welcomed by angels and saints and find everlasting joy in the heavenly kingdom.

He will be forever loved and deeply missed.
