David B. Sellen (1937-2020)
Talented artisan, collector of antiquities, expert on North American Indian culture, Judo champion, masonry contractor.
He was born and raised in Seattle, where he lived his entire life.
He loved adventure, history, art, music, food, travel, and his pets. He had a passion for studying diverse ethnic cultures.
He loved being around people and telling jokes and stories. He enjoyed attending festivals where he would showcase his didgeridoo skills, take part in drum circles, and meet interesting people.
He is survived by his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
David Sellen was a talented man who loved his children with all his heart. His relationship with them had ups and downs but as someone who knew him and them all I knew he loved them fiercely.
His curiosity and love of different cultures was deep and helped to shape his life. He could be an extremely loyal friend and could be easily hurt if he felt rejected.
As an ex-wife I still love the things about him that I fell in love with. That our paths went different ways does not mean he became my enemy. He was the daddy and the uncle that all the kiddies loved.
I am so sorry. My mom was a good friend of his through my lifetime. They were true besties. They would lose touch for various amounts of time, then get together like nothing was different.
They passed within a year (almost to the day) of each other.
